~*~ Harajuku ~*~

'Harajuku style' is a street fashion at Harajuku,Japan.At the end of World War 2, U.S. soldiers and their families began to occupy the area known as Harajuku.The young generation in this area were then affected by the 'Hip -Hop',which was the earliest of the 'Harajuku tribe'.This area was quickly occupied by fashion designers, models, and photographers, further developed, and the idea of “Harajuku” slowly began to take a more concrete shape which become a distinct culture and style unique from different groups and the area. From this distinct style grew the culture of Harajuku as a gathering ground for youths and as a fashion mecca.

The term 'Harajuku Girls' has been used by English-language media to describe teenagers dressed in any fashion style who are in the area of Harajuku.This fashion infuses multiple looks and styles to create a unique form of dress.They dressed in many fashion styles ranging from Gothic Lolita (or gothic loli) ,Visual Kei, Ganguro, Gyaru,Kogal to Kawaii style clothing.Young adults in Harajuku may also dress as anime or manga characters (known as cosplay).




>>Gothic Lolita
Gothic Lolita or GothLoli is a youth fashion among Japanese teenagers and young women.
Gothic Lolita clothes have a sometimes very dark look or sometimes very kawaii (cute) look.
It has the style of 'princess'...










>>Kawaii

Kawaii, which means "cute" or "pretty. They wear like children or cute clothes.Normally is pink in colour~









>>Visual Kei




Visual Kei refers to a movement among Japanese rock (jrock) musicians and is characterized by the use of elaborate costumes, eccentric, looks and hairstyles. The Visual Kei usually involves striking make-up.Eg:eighties goth rock, heavy metal , punk or combo of the three.



>>Ganguro & Kogal




Ganguro style consists of a deep tan combined with dyed hair (bleached gray, silver or various shades of orange). Ganguro girls also wear white lipstick and eye shadow. And black ink is often used as an eyeliner along with false eyelashes and facial gems (plastic) and pearl powder. They wear brightly coloured clothes including miniskirts, tie-dyed sarongs, lots or rings, necklaces and bracelets.


Kogal girls are know for prominently "showing off" their disposable income through the fashions they wear, their taste in music and their social activity in general. Kogal girls sport designer accessories such as louis vuitton handbags and are often the first consumers of japanese mobile phones.

Cosplay is an abbreviation of Costume Play. A Japanese subculture based on dressing up like characters from manga, anime,and video games!
